Jeffcoats Lane
Jeffcoats Lane is named after the Jeffcoat family who lived on the south side of the lane at the Talbot Lane end. It’s most famous resident Samuel Jeffcoat fought under the future Duke of Wellington during the Peninsular War against Napoleon’s armies in Spain and Portugal.
During the 20th century the Wheatley family lived at Tunnel House, next to the former Coleorton Railway that used to cross the lane near the Main Street end.
