Jessop’s Tramway and the Coleorton Railway Guided Walk

Saturday 18th May. We follow the line of Jessop’s 1794 tramway from the Swannington Coalfield towards Thringstone Wharf. We then continue along the Ivanhoe Way before heading to the New Lount Nature Reserve where we take a break for a picnic lunch. Our route back traces the horse drawn 1833 Coleorton Railway.

The route is mainly through arable and livestock fields and along quiet roads. Some sections may be muddy and/or overgrown. Meet at Hough Mill, ready for a 10.30am start. The walk is 6.5 miles with 25+ stiles and will take about 4 hours. Booking essential, email swanningtonwalks@gmail.com. Donations to Swannington Heritage Trust appreciated.
