Before coal powered steam roller mills came to dominate the market in the 1880’s, windmills and watermills were an essential element in village life. In the days of the horse and cart, lots of windmills and watermills were needed as otherwise it would take too long to transport grains and flour.

Don’t forget to visit Hough Mill on summer Sunday afternoons, April to September.
