Over the centuries there were numerous other windmills in and around Swannington.  There was one near Hoo Ash farm, another at Windmill Close near current day Church Lane Bridge.  Thomas Kirby had a post mill near St George’s Church.  At various times there were other windmills around what was the Swannington, Coleorton and Thringstone border.

Read about Swannington Windmills in an extract from our Swannington Heritage Trust magazines.   This article also tells the story of the Kirby children who lived in Hough Mill to avoid an epidemic.
