Latest News! Mill sails update!

We are excited to confirm that alterations to a listed building permission has been granted for framework sails to be added to Hough Mill, Swannington!

In a 2010 publication written by Lesley Hale and Denis Baker titled ‘The History and Refurbishment of Hough Mill, Swannington’, a sentence reads, “we intend to continue our restoration of the mill, by constructing additional internal machinery, with sails as a more distant aspiration.”  We are now ready to achieve that aspiration!

This incredible opportunity has been made possible because of a very generous bequest to the Trust for which we are so grateful.

The Mill team have sourced technical knowledge from other mills and Millwrights across the country, gathered costings for materials and technical know how and are ready for this tremendous and challenging chapter in the restoration of our historic Mill.

We hope you will follow the progress via this site and our Facebook page and Twitter feed which will have regular updates and photos! We will celebrate the completion with a Fair to which all will be welcome.

Come and visit Sunday afternoons from 2pm to 5 pm.

Let’s get this started!
